Bessie Tolbert

Bessie Ruth Barbee Tolbert, 85 years of age, of Locust, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Carolinas HealthCare System Main in Charlotte.

Mrs. Tolbert was born August 25, 1932 to the late Melbert Arlene and Ella Mae Barbee. Bessie enjoyed gardening and was active in the church, but will best be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be missed by all that knew her.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Monday, February 5, 2018 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at 3:00 pm at Community Baptist Church, 818 N. Central Ave, Locust, officiated by Pastor Landon Keziah and Rev. Roy Lee Barbee. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Survivors include: husband, Grover Lamar Tolbert; daughters, Cynthia Long, Judy Grismer, Jacqueline Hartsell; sisters, Louise (Gary) Little, Frances Almond; brothers, Bobby (Linda) Barbee, Roy Lee (Louise) Barbee; ten grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
