Betty Gaynell Ballard, 76 years of age, of Concord, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.
Mrs. Ballard was born May 3, 1938 in Cabarrus County to the late Fred and Margaret Troutman. She was also preceded in death by her sister Nancy T. Yarborough, and her husband Kenneth Ballard.
Gaye, a proud member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church, was also a longtime member in the church choir. She enjoyed spending her free time in the mountains and the beach with her loving husband of 53 years.
The family will receive friends from 10am to 11am at Oak Grove United Methodist Church on Friday, March 27, 2015. A graveside service will immediately follow officiated by Rev. Beau Linker at Oak Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant.
She is survived by her son, James Ballard of Concord, NC; daughter, Kenda Dempsey and husband Ben of Mabank, TX; six grandchildren, Taylor Hearne and wife Breanna of Concord, NC, Victoria Hearne of Killeen, TX, James Ballard and wife Yasmina of Harrisburg, NC, Taylor Dempsey and wife Flavia of Del Rio, TX, Rachel Sullivan and husband Robert of Germany, and Sarah Dempsey of Mabank, TX; four great grandchildren, Ryder Hearne, Nayellie and Lucy Dempsey and Annabelle Sullivan; siblings, Ruby Herringshaw, Douglas and Rachel Fagan, Robby and Betty Troutman, Joel and Glenda Troutman, Richard Troutman, and David Yarborough, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
