Betty Bracey

Betty Jean Bracey, 62, of Oakboro, passed away Monday, January 2, 2023 at home in Oakboro.

Betty was born November 17, 1960 in North Carolina to the late James Artis Austin Sr. and the late Cora Elizabeth Austin.
She was also preceded in death by husband, Miles Bracey and sister Carolyn Drye.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm - 2:45 pm, Thursday, January 5, 2023 at West Oakboro Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 3pm, officiated by Pastor Jerry Greene.

Betty was an active and caring person that spent most of her time caring for others. After her retirement from Cadmus Communications, she went on to care for the elderly for nearly 10 years.  She had unconditional love that was beyond comparison and absolutely adored and loved her grand babies.  Betty was a great listener, and not being judgmental, many would share what was on their hearts and minds with her.  Betty battled numerous illnesses for many years and was determined, no matter how bad the circumstances, to remain strong and positive till the end.

Survivors include daughter, Brandy Bracey of Oakboro, NC; grandsons McCoy Hartsell and Daylan Bracey; brother, Jimmy (Annette) Austin Jr. of Midland, NC; sister, Judy (Clay) Edwards of Helena, Alabama.

Donations may be made to Hospice of Union County.
