Betty Christopher

December 9, 1927 — March 3, 2021

Harrisburg

Betty passed away from her earthly home on March 3rd.  Waiting for her at heavens gates were her husband Jack of 51 years, and her parents Jay Willis Stallings and Labasare Barnette Stallings.

She was born on December 9, 1927.  Betty met Jack while they were both working for John Deere in Charlotte.  Betty and Jack lived in Florence SC, Kinston NC and Atlanta GA over the years.  They moved “back home” to Harrisburg in 1988.

She was a faithful member of Rocky Ridge United Methodist Church.  She was a member of the Ella Wade Sunday School class, Circle One and made desserts for the “Hot Dog” sales on Fridays.  Betty and her husband Jack, along with Gene and Leona Verble, started the Friday Hot Dog sales as a fundraiser to benefit various projects for the church.  She also participated in the Green Shoe Ministry by bagging snack bags of animal crackers each week.  Betty attended Sunday School and church every Sunday until her health began to decline.  Even during this difficult time, “her preacher” Tam, would connect her to Zoom so she could talk to her church family and listen to church.

Left to cherish her memory are her two sons: Chris (Cindy) Christopher of Fayetteville, GA.  Jay (Martha) Christopher of Atlanta, GA and her daughter Betsy (Bill) of Raleigh, NC.  Her grandchildren: Allison, Rebecca, and Elizabeth Christopher, Sarah (Ryan) and David (Christi) Ferrell.  Sister-in-law, Evelyn Fooshe, Neal Clark and David Foster and other members of her extended family.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Interim Healthcare, BrightStar of Cabarrus and Hospice of Kannapolis.  We would also like to thank her church family for all their love and support.  A special thank you to Yvonne and Dee for taking such wonderful and loving care of our Mom for the past three years.

The graveside service will be on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 3:00 pm at Carolina Memorial Park Kannapolis in Concord officiated by Rev. Tam Wensil.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Rocky Ridge United Methodist Church - Building Fund (1428 Old Charlotte Road Concord, NC 28027), Rocky Ridge Green Shoe Ministry (1428 Old Charlotte Road Concord, NC 28027) or Hospice of Kannapolis (5003 Hospice Lane Kannapolis, NC 28081)
