Betty Garrison

Mrs. Betty Jane Hearne Garrison, age 82 passed away on August 23, 2010. She was born on January 18, 1928 in Stanly County, NC. She was married to the late James B. Garrison of Albemarle, NC. Daughter of the late Eben Lawson and Laura Reynolds Hearne, Mrs. Garrison was educated in the Albemarle public schools and then attended Winthrop College in Rock Hill, S.C. She and Mr. Garrison were married in 1948 in Albemarle, NC. Mrs. Garrison is survived by two children, James Banks Garrison, Jr. and wife, Susan and Jane Garrison Lisk and husband Roger both of Albemarle; four grandchildren, Kevin Garrison and wife Mary of Concord, Katherine McManus and husband Bill of Duxbury, Mass., William Lisk and wife Nicole of Concord, Benjamin Lisk and wife Shannon of Albemarle; and four great grandchildren, Henry Garrison, Emerson and Sydney Lisk, Jackson and Jameson Lisk and a long time caregiver, Mary Hall. Mrs. Garrison was an active member in the First Presbyterian Church and served in many capacities. Her club and civic memberships were numerous and were varied over the years, including the Hawthorn Garden Club as a charter member. Mrs. Garrison was extremely active in the Stanly County Museum and was very instrumental in many projects. She served in the Ladies Auxiliary of Stanly Memorial Hospital. Funeral services for Mrs. Garrison will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Albemarle on August 26, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Elizabeth McNair Ayscue presiding. Graveside rites will be held at the Hearne Cemetery on South 1st Street. Pall bearers consist of her grandsons, Kevin Garrison, Will and Ben Lisk, Bill McManus, Chris Huneycutt. Visitation will be at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 beginning at 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Garrison family will be at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Roger Lisk, 806 Amanda Way, Albemarle, NC or Mr. and Mrs. Banks Garrison, 1209 Belvedere Dr. Albemarle. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 126 W. North St. Albemarle, NC, Hearne Cemetery, c/o Lydia Morgan, 620 N.
