Betty Hartsell, 80, of Concord left this life to be with her Lord and Saviour and to join her husband, Leonard David Hartsell, her parents, Britton and Essie Lee Green and granddaughter, Amy Hinson Rabon on Thursday, September 2, 2010. Betty was born on September 1, 1930 in Cabarrus County to the late Britton and Essie Lee Green. She retired from Cannon Mills. Her greatest joys in life were her children and grandchildren. Betty loved her church, Bible Way Community Church, where her grandson, David Jacobs is pastor. She was a previous member of Poplar Grove Baptist Church. Betty was an active participant in the Senior Adult Ministries of First Assembly. She loved her friends and was a true friend to many. Betty touched the lives of all she met and she will truly be missed. She is survived by her loving and grateful daughters and their spouses, Nancy and D.H. Sossamon, Maxine and Danny Jacobs, Sr., Brenda and Doug Bundy all of Concord. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kathy Myrtle, David Dulin, Jill Poteat, Kelly Lacy, Danny Jacobs, Jr., Shelia Howell, David Jacobs, Myra Camp and fourteen special great-grandchildren, two great-great--grandchildren, her loving sister, Carolyn Wilburn, and special nieces and nephews in Virginia. The family would like to express sincerest appreciation to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County for their exceptional care and compassion they demonstrated during the last days. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM on Friday, September 3, 2010 at Hartsell Funeral Home Concord. At other times the family will be at the home. A service celebrating Betty's life will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home Concord Chapel on Saturday, September 4, 2010 at 2 PM, with the Rev. David Jacobs, Rev. Rodney Quesenberry, Rev. Jimmy Barrett, and Rev, Forrest Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Bible Way Community Church 1831 Dale Earnhardt Blvd., Kannapolis, NC 28083 or Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
