Betty Hayes

Mrs. Betty Joan Eury Hayes, 71, of 6230 Monticello Drive NW, passed away on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at Tucker Hospice House, Kannapolis. Born September 23, 1938 in Cabarrus County, she was the daughter of the late John Houston and Bertie Lee Eury. A visitation will be held on Friday, July 2, 2010 at Hartsell Funeral Home Concord from 12:00 until 1:30. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis with Chaplain Edward Scott officiating. She is preceeded in death by her parents; sister, Mildred Johnson; and brother, Donald Eury. She is survived by her husband, John Hayes, of the home; daughters, Sheila Brown and husband, Ronald, of Charlotte, Sharon Jalayer and husband, Nader, of Ashburn, VA, and Laura Lee Hayes, of Concord; brothers, Ray and Earnest Eury, both of Concord; sister, Juanita Ritch, of Midland, Doris Eury, of Concord, and Ruby "Sue" Barringer, of Concord; grandchildren, Jessica Lee Arney and fiance, Donny Edwards; great grandchildren, Yasamine Sha Arney, Daven Arney, and Dana Arney. Betty was a homemaker and was of the Methodist faith. She was passionate about genealogy and doing research on her family tree. She liked to tend to her garden and cooking for her family.
