Betty Jones

Betty W. Jones, 77, of 574 Camrose Circle Concord passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis. Born on January 22, 1934 in Wilson County to the late Carl and Addie Davis Watson. Betty was the wife of 46 years to the late Jack Jones, Jr. of Browns Summit, NC. Also preceded in death by sisters Ms. Dorothy W. Wade of Stone Mtn. GA and Ms. Marjorie W. Aycock of Bagley, NC, brother Mr. Charlie Milton Watson of Micro, NC, and son Jack Daniel Jones of Concord, NC. Ms. Jones graduated from Micro High School, Micro, NC, and attended Watts Hospital School of Nursing, Durham, NC, and Rockingham Community College, Wentworth, NC. Betty was a contracting agent for the DMV in Caswell, County, NC for 8 years and at the Golden Gate Shopping Center, Greensboro, NC for 25 years. She was an advanced EEO Officer for the DOT for 2 divisions, worked at UNC-G, Greensboro, NC and retired as Administrative Assistant to the DMV Director of Registration in Raleigh, NC in 1995. Ms. Jones was a member of Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church, Concord, NC member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Caswell County Chapter and a former member of the American Business Women's Association, Nat Greene Chapter, Greensboro, NC. She was the Co-Founder of the NC Auto License Plate Association, a state wide organization, and an active member of the Democratic Party in Guilford County for 40 years. The family meeting place will be at the home. A visitation will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home Concord on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 from 2 until 3:30 PM. A memorial service will follow in the chapel at 4 PM, with Rev. Keith Copeland officiating. Burial will be held at Holland Family Cemetery in Micro, NC on Wednesday, February 16, at 1 PM. Survived by: brothers, Charles R. Watson and wife Ailene of Selma, NC, Steve Watson and wife Lucy of Kenly, NC; children, Mark S. Jones and wife Nancy of Concord, NC, Andrew Jones and wife Diane of Clermont, FL, Rebecca J. Dangler and husband Douglas of Edgerton, OH, Fairbee (Bee) J. Mintz and husband Christopher of Lowell, NC; grandchildren, Jacqueline Jones of Aurora, CO, Melissa Stallings of Greensboro, NC, Jason, Josh and Olivia Jones of Concord, NC, Kelly and Caroline Jones of Clermont, FL, Bryan Phillips of Edgerton, OH, Avery and Abbey Mintz of Lowell, NC, Stephanie and Charlene Dangler of Edgerton, OH; 4 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
