Betty Blair Morrison Linker, 81, of 404 School Circle, Harrisburg, passed away on Monday, October 4, 2010 at Caremoor Retirement Center in Kannapolis. She was born on January 4, 1929 in Mecklenburg County to the late John Dwight Morrison, Sr. and Betty Duell Marshall Morrison. A visitation will be held at Harrisburg Presbyterian Church in the fellowship building on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm. Funeral service will be held at Harrisburg Presbyterian Church on Thursday October 7, 2010 at 11:00 am with Rev. Tim Bostick officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. At other times, the family will be meeting at the home. She graduated from Harrisburg High School in 1947 and completed classes at Kings Business College in Charlotte. She worked as a secretary for several years in the Cannon Mills business office in Kannapolis. Betty married her husband on November 5, 1955. After marriage, she stayed at home and raised her sons until they were all in school. She then became a substitute teacher and later, an assistant teacher at Harrisburg Elementary School. After her children finished school, she worked as a secretary at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte; first in the international studies department, then in the nursing school until she retired. During her retirement, she spent time doing things for her family and spending time with her grandchildren. Betty was a life-long member of Harrisburg Presbyterian Church, where her grandfather, Dwight Lafayette Morrison was a founding elder. She was loved by all those who knew her and will be remembered as a giving person who enjoyed being with her friends and family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Boone Linker, Sr. who passed away in 2007. She is survived by three sons, Thomas Boone Linker, Jr. and wife, Judy, Frederick Morrison Linker, and Will Mack Linker; three granddaughters, Tabitha Clark Everett, Aleisha Marie Linker, and Amanda Blair Linker; two great grandchildren, Gavin Thomas Everett and Carleigh Marie Everett; and one sister, Jane Morrison Harrison, of Maryland. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Harrisburg Presbyterian Church Cemetery Fund, PO Box 310, Harrisburg, NC 28075 9464, Harrisburg Methodist Church Crisis Assistant Ministry, 4560 HWY 49 South, Harrisburg, NC 28075, or Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
