Betty Catherine Blackwelder Love of Concord, Cabarrus County, NC, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013 at CMC-Northeast after a brief illness. Services will be held at Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church, on Wednesday May 1st, 2013 at 2 pm, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord on Tuesday April 30, 2013 from 6 until 8 pm. The family will gather at her residence. Betty was a graduate of Harrisburg High School. She was a life-long faithful member of Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church, Concord, where she was active in all phases of the church, including WELCA, Priscilla Circle, Friendship Club. Betty was the secretary and Director of Senior Ministries of Mt. Hermon for over 35 years and served faithfully in that role. Betty was born August 21, 1933 in Cabarrus County, the daughter of the late Holmes and Annie Pless Blackwelder. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Homer W. Love, sister, Carolyn B. Moose, brothers, J. Ralph Blackwelder, Richard Blackwelder, and Archie Blackwelder. Betty is survived by her children, Jo Ann L. Foster and husband, Don, Barbara L. Linker and husband, Mike, and Nancy L. Jones and husband, Mark. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Angela, Brian, and Matthew Foster, all of Concord, Micah and Caroline Linker, of Concord, and Jason, Josh, and Olivia Jones, of Concord, two great-grandchildren, Paige Merritt and Jacob Foster, both of Concord. Betty is also survived by a brother, Ray M. Blackwelder of Concord. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church, 3600 Highway 601 S., Concord, NC 28025, Betty Love Memorial Fund. Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord is serving the Love family.
