Betty Mccoy

After nearly 63 years of marriage, Joe Mack McCoy, 82, and Betty Joan McCoy, 83, have both passed to be with our Lord and Savior. Joe passed under Hospice care on July 25, 2016. Betty passed 6 months later on January 22, 2017. Memorial Services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Loves Grove United Methodist Church in Stanfield, NC. An Ashes Burial with Military Honors will follow at Loves Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. A lunch gathering will be held immediately following the ceremonies in the family center of the church. All are welcome to attend.

Joe Mack McCoy was born on April 21, 1934 to Oscar and Delaler McCoy in Union County. Betty Joan McCoy was born on December 1, 1933 to Noemi and John Mercado in Los Angeles, CA. The two met during their Navy service to our country. They wed while still in the Navy on September 19, 1955. Their love for one another was demonstrated every day and was evident to all that knew them. Joe had his entire career at IBM where he witnessed advances in state of the art computer technology as computers were coming into existence and changing the world. Betty had her career in nursing where she helped patients in the Intensive Care Unit and as a Floor Nurse. Both were successful in their careers but nothing compared to their love for one another and for their family. Their daily sacrifices of love, care, and support of their children was extraordinary.

The saddest day in their lives came when their son, Marvin Scott McCoy, preceded them in death in 1989. They are survived by two daughters, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. All were witness to their intense bond and love for one another which demonstrated how successful marriages are created through the unselfish love for their partner.
