Betty Lou Turner Meggs, 93 years of age, of Marshville, passed away Thursday, December 15, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loved ones.
Betty was born September 2, 1923 in Union County to the late Walter Sylvester Turner and the late Ruby Flora Strawn Turner. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Walter Leamon Turner and Charlie Marsh Turner.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm, Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Marshville. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm in the sanctuary, officiated by Rev. John Miller and Rev. Gene Hopkins. The burial will be in the church cemetery. At other times, the family will be gathering at the home.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 71 years, Thomas Richard Meggs of the home; sons, Donald Meggs and wife Earlene of Monroe, James Walter Meggs of Marshville; daughter, Vicky Baucom and husband Gerald of Oakboro; sister, Maxine Carter of Concord; seven grandchildren, Marla, Anthony, Phillip, Jason, Chris, Rick, and Ben; 16 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren,.
