Betty Pigg

Betty Jo Griffin Pigg, 83 years of age, passed away on Friday, July 18, 2014 at her home in Charlotte, surrounded by her loving family.

Betty was born April 22, 1931 in Mecklenburg County to the late Martin Luther Griffin and the late Leslie Ann Mullis Griffin. She graduated from Bain High School, Mint Hill, NC, and Kings College, Charlotte, NC. She retired from Sunbelt Outdoor Products.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 - 1:00 pm, Monday, July 21, 2014 at Arlington Baptist Church. The funeral service will be at 1:00 pm in the sanctuary officiated by Rev. Dr. Steve Gandy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery at 9801 Arlington Church Road, Charlotte, NC 28227.

Survivors include her loving husband of 63 years, Merle Phillips Pigg of the home; children, Ronald P. (Cheryl) Pigg of Charlotte, Carol P. (Zane) Hall of Matthews, Kent A. Pigg of Atlanta, GA, and Bryan L. Pigg of Charlotte; brother, William "Bill" (Becky) Griffin of Mint Hill; sister, Lana (Woody) Brown of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Chris (Emily) Davis, Chad (Tara) Davis, Jeremy Pigg, Drew Pigg, and Lauren Pigg; great grandchildren, Bailey Davis, Brenna Davis, Zachary Loebs, Gavin Davis, Ella Davis, and Parker Davis.

She was regarded as the best wife, mother, grandmother, and sister and loved her family unconditionally. She was known for being an incredible cook. Her family described her as the essence of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, and faithfulness.
