Betty Ritch

Betty Coggins Ritch, 84 years of age, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Novant Health Medical Center in Matthews.

Betty resided at Charlotte Square Assisted Living for the past year, prior to that she lived in Troy, NC since 1992.

Betty was born January 1, 1932 in Mecklenburg County to the late Charlie and Neely Coggins. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Ira Jackson Ritch.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 12:00 Noon, Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland. The funeral service officiated by Rev. Ken Crump will follow at 12:00 Noon in Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Rd., Charlotte. At other times family and friends will be meeting at the home of Mike and Sheila Greene, 3816 Hwy 601 S, Concord, NC 28025.

Betty was blessed a loving family. She had 14 siblings in and around the Charlotte area; five children, Charles Ritch (Carol) of Marshville, Ricky Ritch (Joyce) and Steve Ritch (Cindy) both of Indian Trail, Teresa Ritch of Denver, and Sheila Greene (Mike) of Concord; nine grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and multiple step grandchildren. Betty and her husband were honored with a lifetime friend, Tommy Henderson of Charlotte.

Betty retired from Lance, Inc. of Charlotte after 17 years of service in 1992. She was a member of First Wesleyan Church of Troy. She loved playing bingo, cooking, spoiling her grandchildren and traveling.
