Betty Russell
February 13, 1932 — June 11, 2017
Betty Loretta Burleson Russell, 85 years of age, of Mount Gilead, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017 at her home in Mount Gilead with her loving family by her side.
Betty was born February 13, 1932 to the late Atlas and Ruth Burleson. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, James Titus "JT" Russell, Jr., and sister, Clara Jane Speights.
Betty graduated from Albemarle High School. She obtained her LPC License and worked in Labor and Delivery at Stanly General Hospital. She was a homemaker and worked part-time with J. T. Russell & Sons, Inc. Betty was also a volunteer for many years at Stanly Memorial Hospital. She was a Sunday School teacher for many years at Centerview Baptist and Prospect Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Angela Russell Blalock (Sam); Vivian Russell Turbeville (Roger); Sons, Atlas James "Jim" Russell (Janet Wilson); David "Doc" Russell (Lynne); and Timothy P. Russell (June). Grandchildren: Mandi Turbeville Eudy (Brian); Will Turbeville (Allison); Brian Blalock, Nicholas Blalock (Tracy); Titus Russell (Anna); Brooke Russell, Amie Russell Hooks (Garrett); Nathan Russell (Karmen); Anna-Yates Russell Lipcsak (John); and Caine Russell. Great-grandchildren, Lillie Grace Eudy; Brayden Eudy; Aden Blalock; Emma-Yates Lipcsak; Gunnar Hooks; Blake Turbeville; Mary-Parks Lipcsak; Wells Russell; Alayna Russell; Jaxton Hooks; and Addison Turbeville; sisters, Jimmie Carol Hinson (Hugh); Martha Hudson (Carroll); Sue Doby (Mike); and Diane Carswell (Mark).
The funeral service will be on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., at Prospect Baptist Church officiated by Reverend Stoney Benfield, and Reverend Ray Johnson. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the burial in the church sanctuary.
