Betty Louise Sides

Betty Hudson Sides, 81, of Albemarle, passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at Spring Arbor in Albemarle surrounded by family and loved ones.

Betty was born May 8, 1943 in Albemarle, North Carolina to the late William Eben Hudson and Della Lefler Hudson. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Jerry Dale Sides; son, Jamie Daren Sides; and brother, Clyde Eben Hudson. 

Betty was an avid gardener who loved both the beach and the mountains. She loved birdhouses, canning, and baking sweets. Betty also loved doing woodworking projects with her husband as well as riding the golf cart through Sunset Harbor so that she could watch the dolphins and the sunset. Sunset Harbor was also where Betty and her husband, Jerry, made great friends and were a part of a wonderful community. 

Survivors include sons, Jody Sides (Leanne) and Jan Sides; daughter, DeeDee Sides Whitley (Grant); grandchildren, Alicia Sides, Christopher Aycock (Emily), John Aycock, Kaylee Luther (Brandon), Justin Sides (Lillie); great-grandchildren, Braylee Gainey, Savannah Aycock, Weston Aycock, and Elia Luther; and brother, James Hudson (Diane). 

The family will receive friends from 12:30 - 1:45 pm, Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 2:00 pm in Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel, officiated by Pastor Stoney Benfield.
