Betty Smith

Betty Jean Smith, 81, of Concord, passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2012, at Horizon Bay Assisted Living. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord on Saturday, July 21, 2012, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Mary Hatley, will be held in the Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, July 22, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Cold Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery. Betty was born on March 17, 1931, to the late James William Smith and the late Elsie Walker Smith. She was a lifetime member of Cold Springs United Methodist Church. Betty previously worked for Douglas Aircraft and later retired from an administrative career in banking. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Roy William Smith; and three sisters, Nancy Jones, Mary Rose Smith and Julia Doris Smith. She is survived by a nephew Bob Jones, his wife Sheri and their daughter, Shandace J. Caldwell, all of Concord. Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord is serving the Smith family.
