Betty Jean Hepler Honeycutt, 91, of Albemarle, NC passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at Trinity Place in Albemarle.
Jean was born September 6, 1930 in Thomasville, NC to the late Luther Charles Hepler, Sr. and the late Julia Anne Hill Hepler.
She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Marvin Leon Honeycutt, Sr., who passed away in 2002; daughter, Jennifer Jean Holt, who passed away in 2007; and siblings, L.C Hepler and Eunice Lowder.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service to celebrate her life will be at 3:00 pm on Sunday, October 31, 2021 at Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel in Albemarle officiated by Rev. Ben Floyd and Rev. De Hillyer. For everyone's safety, the family respectively requests for friends and family to wear masks.
She is survived by her sons, Leon Honeycutt and Mark Honeycutt, both of Albemarle, and one daughter, Beverly H. McKinney of Lafayette, Indiana. She leaves two much beloved grandsons, Justin (Alison) Holt of Charlotte and Patrick Holt of Albemarle; four wonderful great-grandchildren, Alexander Holt, Taylor Jean Holt, Maximus Holt, and Hollis Holt; and two brothers, Wilson Hepler of Sumter, SC and Marshall Hepler of Thomasville.
Jean graduated from Pfeiffer University with her BA in Education and earned her Master's in Education from UNCC. A teacher at Oakboro Elementary School for 32 years, after she retired Mrs. Honeycutt was elected and served on the Stanly County Board of Education for 12 years. In addition to being an incredible cook for her family, she was an avid reader. She and Marvin loved to travel around the US, as well as vacationing in England and Japan. In her spare time, she learned to pilot single engine aircraft. A member of Main Street United Methodist Church, Jean served as a Sunday School Teacher for many years.
