Beverly Horton

Mrs. Beverly B. Horton, 55, of 83 McArthur Avenue SE, Concord, passed away Saturday, March 6, 2010 at CMC-NorthEast. Born on June 21, 1954 in Cabarrus County. Beverly was a graduate of Concord High School “Class of 1972”. She attended Wingate University and also UNCC. She graduated from USC at Columbia University in 1999 with a Masters Degree in Nursing. Beverly was a member of The American Association of Critical Care Nurses, Sigma Theta Tau, Upsilon Mu Chapter, and Louise Harkey Alumni Association. Her 26 year career has been spent at CMC-NorthEast. She has touched many lives in different ways, including Medical Surgical Nursing, Nursing Supervisor, Clinical Nurse Specialist , Critical Care Nursing, and most recently as a member of the faculty of Cabarrus College of Health Science where she served as an assistant professor. Beverly was preceded in death by her son Eric Paul Horton on November 14, 2003 and a grandson David Jesse Halperin. A visitation will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home Concord on Wednesday, March, 10, 2010 from 11:30 until 1:30 PM. Funeral services will follow in the chapel at 2 PM, with the Chaplain Tony Biles, Marcia Zipf officiating, and friends and family assisting. Entombment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. Survived by: husband, Roger Horton of the home; daughter, Laura Horton Halperin and husband Kenneth of Concord; parents, H.F. and Mary Black of Concord; sisters, Barbara B. Yow of Kannapolis and Marion West of Mooresville; granddaughter, Sara Rose Helperin of Concord; niece, Roxanne Stroud and husband Brad of Rockwell and their daughters, Erin and Josie.
