Billie Carelock

Billie Ray Carelock, age 74 of Dalzell, SC, passed away on August 15, 2011 at his home. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle from 6pm until 8pm on Thursday, August 18, 2011. The funeral will be on Friday, August 19 at 11am at Liberty Hill Primitive Baptist Church, Oakboro, NC. Burial will follow in Liberty Hill Primitive Church cemetery. Pall bearers will be his grandsons and nephew, James Love. Military honors will be conducted by Stanly County DAV. Mr. Carelock was born in Cabarrus County on June 19, 1937, to the late Sanford Benjamin Carelock and the late Sarah Estelle Sinclair Carelock. He is also preceded in death by a brother, David Lee Carelock. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn “Jean” Furr Carelock, of the home; son, Billy Carelock, Jr of Albemarle, NC; daughters, Teresa Carelock of Tucson, AZ, Sara “Rosie” and spouse, James, Franklin of Charlotte, NC and Alisa and spouse, James, Allen of Sumter, SC; sisters, Lucy Dean Teeter and Rachel Bolton, nine grandchildren, James, Jessica and Paul Carelock, Brenda and Audrey Wells, Daniel and Christopher Newbern and Bryan and Keith Allen; two great grandchildren, Elizabeth and Eleonor Newbern. Mr. Carelock proudly served his country in the US Air Force for 28 years. Following his retirement from the military, he owned and operated Carolina Sweeping Service in Sumter, SC.
