Billie Lee

Billie "Bill" Jones Lee, 89 years of age, of Oakboro, passed away Thursday, August 28, 2014, at CMC - NorthEast in Concord.

Bill was born May 7, 1925 in Stanly County to the late Webster Jonas Lee and the late Vashti Huneycutt Lee. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Clara Mae Tucker Lee; son, Randy Charles Lee; four sisters; and two brothers.

The funeral service will be at 1:00 pm, Saturday, August 30, 2014, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Oakboro, officiated by Dr. Wayne Bennett and Dr. Phillip Hunter. The burial will be at the church cemetery with military honors conducted by the Stanly County DAV, Chapter 12. He will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline Belt Lee of the home; son, Gerald and wife Bonnie of Oakboro; daughters, Jane Honeycutt of Oakboro, and Nellie Morton and husband Jerry of Abbeville, SC; brother, John Boyd Lee of Monroe; sister, Tina McLester of Stanfield; step-daughter, Donna Owens and husband Rodney of Denton; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and two step-grandsons.

Bill served his country honorably in the United States Army during WWII. He was a farmer and former owner of Lee's Carpet, Inc. Bill was a loyal member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where he was a Sunday School teacher, deacon, and choir member. He loved string music, and was a member of the Old House Band.
