Billy Fincher

Billy Gilbert Fincher, 77, passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Bill Fincher surrendered to his illness on January 19, 2010. A native of Stanly County, he was preceded in death by his father, William Fincher, mother , Effie Fincher and brother, Larry Fincher. He leaves behind a beloved companion, Elena Cichosz; three sons, Gary, Derek Todd and Mark Fincher; two brothers; Jerry and Donald Fincher and a sister Barbara Hathcock as well as five grandchildren and one great grandchild. Loved by his family for his generosity and quick wit, Bill will be deeply missed. Full of spirit and adventure, upon completion of his service in the U.S. Air Force, Bill spent his early years in California and his later years torn between Albemarle and Southern California. Bill was always passionate about cars and airplanes and spent his entire life buying, improving and selling cars as a hobby and later in life as an occupation. After retirement Bill turned his sites to building and remodeling houses, many of which are now homes of Stanly County residents. The family will be celebrating Bill's life at the home of Ms. Chichosz on Saturday, January 23rd at 2:00 pm. Family and friends are invited to gather at 1503 Stoker Terrace, Albemarle.
