Billy Kee

Billy Gene Kee, 75, of Richfield, formerly of Concord, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on May 20, 2011, after a long battle with cancer. He was born to the late Samuel G. Kee and Rhoda F. Kee on November 7, 1935. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Alice Kee and Elma Hodges and brothers, George Kee and Howard Kee, Sr. He was employed by Cannon Mills for 18 years and retired from Bowman Transportation after 17 years. He had an avid love for gardening, fishing, just tinkering around the house, and his faithful four-legged companion, Willie. His passion was spending time with his family. He will be fondly remembered as a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. The family will receive friends from 3 – 4 p.m., Tuesday, May 24, at Hartsell Funeral Home, Concord, followed by the funeral service at 4:00 in the chapel. Rev. Ron Honeycutt will officiate and burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery of Concord. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Johnsie M. Kee of the home; daughters, Pamela J. Smart and husband, Chuck, of New London, Donna K. Barnes and husband, Kenny, of Kannapolis, and Michelle K. England of Concord; sons, Dale Kee of Mt. Pleasant and Eric Kee and wife, Connie, of Richfield; brother, Samuel Kee Jr. and wife, Judy, of Clover, SC; best friend since childhood, Boyce Burgess and wife, Sue, of Kannapolis; grandchildren, Rocky James and wife, Nicole, Laura Smart, Sandy Reynolds and husband, Eric, Becky Nobles and husband, David, Raeann West and husband, Aaron, Jonathan Kee, Nathan Kee, William Kee, Taylor Barnes, Corey Barnes, Samantha Kee, Eric Kee, Jr., Hannah Kee, and Kayla England; and great-grandchildren, Emma and Levi James, Carter Reynolds, and Alexis and Jonah Kee.
