Billy Whitley

Billy "Bill" Joe Whitley, 83 years of age, of Oakboro, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Clear Creek Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Mint Hill surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Whitley was born March 4, 1933 in Stanly County to the late Seymore Whitley and the late Myrtle Poplin Whitley. He was also preceded in death by his brothers,; Jimmy Whitley and Robert "Bob" Whitley.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM , Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle . The funeral service will be on Monday, June 20, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel in Albemarle officiated by Rev. Mark Mabry and Pastor Joe Smith. Burial will follow at the Oakboro Cemetery in Oakboro.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years; Betty Whitley; daughter, Sandra Thompson and husband Jeff of Albemarle; granddaughters, Amber L. Mullis and husband Greg of Oakboro, and Casey J. Thompson of Albemarle; and great grand children, Jonathan M. Carr and Lucas G. Mullis.
