Billy Whitley

Billy Ray Whitley, 83 years of age, of Stanfield, passed away Thursday, January 23, 2014 at his home. Billy was born July 12, 1930 in Stanly County, NC to the late Roy Dixon Whitley and the late Maggie Yow Whitley. He was also preceded in death by brother, Clayton Whitley; and sister, Louise Whitley Blackwelder. The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm, Sunday, January 26, 2014 at Love's Grove United Methodist Church in the fellowship hall. The funeral service will follow at 4:00 pm in the church sanctuary officiated by Rev. Jim White. The burial will be in the church cemetery. At other times the family will gather at the home. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ancel Goforth Whitley; daughters, Diane Fink and husband Junior, and Rhonda Joyce Whitley; sister, Doris Whitley Hatley; brother, Melbourne Whitley; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Billy was a lifetime member of Love's Grove United Methodist Church, and was a mechanic supervisor for Allison Manufacturing Company. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Community Homecare and Hospice of Troy, as well as Dr. Mahesh Duggal and the staff at Senior Care-Northeast in Concord.
