Bobby Austin

Bobby “Dale” Austin, 80, of Locust, NC, passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at his home. Mr. Austin was born December 7, 1930, in Stanly County. He was preceded in death by his father, Jacob A. Austin and mother, Mary Betty Hill Austin. He served in the Medical Corp of the U. S. Army and retired from the automotive business. He was a member of Berea Baptist Church in Stanfield. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9, Thursday, May 19, at Hartsell Funeral Home, Midland. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, at Berea Baptist Church of Stanfield. His son, Rev. Keith Austin, will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Military graveside rites will be presented by Stanly County DAV Chapter 12. At other times, the family will meet at his home. Surviving family members are sons, Keith Austin of Locust and Todd Austin of Red Cross; daughter, Diane Austin of Charlotte; granddaughters, Brooke Atkinson, Blaire Singleton, Sarah Austin, Tiffany Austin; grandsons, Matthew Austin, Joshua Austin and Zachary Austin; brothers, Quinton and Gay Austin; sister, Sarah Cook; five great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.
