Bobby Black

Bobby Andre “Sonny” Black, 75, of Midland, NC, was reunited with his wife of 52 years in heaven Thursday, April 28, 2011. Mr. Black was born March 19, 1936, in Union County. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Orr Black on March 2, 2011; father, Ernest D. Black; and mother, Foda Pigg Black. A member of Clear Creek Baptist Church, Sonny was a professional truck driver with long time employment at Whitley Manufacturing, Duke Power Company, and Noel Williams Masonry. The memorial service will be 3:00 p.m., Sunday, May 1, at Clear Creek Baptist Church in the Family Life Center, with burial in the church cemetery. Dr. Rocky Branch and Pastor Hank Parker will officiate. The family will receive friends after the burial in the Family Life Center. Survivors include sons, Rick Black and wife, Teresa, of Monroe and Tommy Black of Midland; daughters, Sherry High of Midland and Sonya Dobbins and husband, Scott, of Indian Trail; grandchildren, Matthew Black, Kristina Black, Shelby High, Shayna High, Silas Dobbins, and Stephen Dobbins; brothers, Hugh Mac Black of Midland and Delane Black of Florida; and sisters, Betty Ruth Love of Monroe, Glenda Flowe of Charlotte, and Hannah Williams of Monroe.
