Bobby Ray Blackwell, 62 years of age, of Harrisburg, passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at his home.
Bobby was born December 3, 1952 in Danville, Virginia to the late Thomas Daniel Blackwell and the late Virginia Mae Hall Blackwell. He was also preceded in death by his son, Bobby Ray Blackwell, Jr. and a brother, Thomas Monroe Blackwell.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Sunday, August 9, 2015 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The funeral service will be at 1:00 pm on Monday, August 10, 2015 in the Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Mike Burkett. The burial will follow at Charlotte Memorial Gardens, 7632 Hood Rd, Charlotte. At other times, the family will be gathering at the home.
He is survived by his wife, Phelia "Jolean" Blackwell of the home; daughters, Jamie Blackwell of Oklahoma, Rebecca Taylor and husband Greg of Eden, Amanda Green and husband Shelton of Greensboro, Lisa Blackwell of Charlotte; sisters, Dorothy Smith and Patricia Harrison, both of Virginia; and 13 grandchildren.
Bobby was a cowboy, who loved riding horses, fishing, playing music, and singing. He was the founder of the Double Horseshoe Cowboy Church, where he preached. Bobby was also a woodworker, and built furniture.
