Bobby C. Hathcock, 87 years of age, of Locust, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at his residence.
Bobby was born October 19, 1929 in Stanly County, North Carolina to the late Claude and Evelyn Huneycutt Hathcock. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Walton Hathcock and Claude Nevin Hathcock.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m., Friday, April 21, 2017 at Locust Presbyterian Church, 607 W. Main Street, Locust. The funeral service will follow in the church sanctuary at 3:00 p.m. officiated by Lou Pfeiffer. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Fannie Hatley Hathcock; daughters, Janna (Nollie) Pressley of Midland, Marla (Michael) Ferris of Albemarle, and Joan (Scott) Hall of Locust; son, Bobby A. Hathcock of Charlotte; four grandchildren, Cameron (C.J.) Pressley, Ben Pressley, Lilly Hall and Evan Ferris; two step-grandchildren, Jill Barrier and Kevin (Ashelyn) Pressley; four step great-grandchildren; one sister, Sadie Hood of Mint Hill; and several nieces and nephews.
Bobby proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army from 1951 to 1953 and was married to the love of his life, Fannie on October 6, 1951. He retired from Heafner Tire in Charlotte, where he was awarded numerous sales awards for his job performance. Bobby was a member of Locust Presbyterian Church where he was a choir member and served as an Elder of the church. His service to the community and town of Locust came from his membership in the Lions Club of Locust for many years. Bobby loved music and laughter, never met a stranger and loved to talk to everyone he worked with and anyone in the community.
