Bobby Ray Kirby, 74, of Concord, passed away Friday, May 13, 2010, in Carolinas Medical Center – Northeast, Concord, NC. Mr. Kirby was born October 26, 1936, in Cabarrus County. He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel F. Kirby, and mother, Retha R. Kirby. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and a member of West Concord Baptist Church. The family will receive friends beginning at 3:30, Monday, May 16, at West Concord Baptist Church. The memorial service will begin at 5:00. Rev. Michael Farley will officiate. Survivors include his wife, Frances Green Kirby, of the home; son, Michael R. Kirby and wife, Christine; brother, George F. Kirby and wife, Phyllis Jean, of Belmont, NC; sister, Betty Bennick and husband, Paul, of Ocean Isle Beach, NC; grandchildren, Seth and Bailey; and nieces and nephews. Mr. Kirby served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher and on various other committees at his church. He was a member of Jackson Park Lions Club, awarded District 31-E White Cane Award for 2008-2009, and the Melvin Jones Fellow Award in 2004-2005.
