Bob was born April 2, 1938 in Cabarrus County, NC to the late Charles Morris Stallings and the late Panthy "Pat" Helms Stallings.
He was also preceded in death by two half sisters, Ruth Helms Porter and Ruby Helms Raymer.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Emma Love Stallings; his son, Keith G. Stallings; and his adopted sister, Linda Stallings Smith.
During high school and prior to beginning work in the accounting field, he worked for his dad in his auto paint and body shop. He was a senior accounting graduate of King's Business College in Charlotte. Bob's first job was working for Alfred L. Hurt & Co., public accountants during the early sixties. During this time he gained tremendous experience in income taxes and accounting, because Al left him in charge of the accounting office while he was traveling for the Charlotte Motor Speedway as their accountant during the couple of years the speedway was being built. Bob then worked in the accounting department of Piedmont & Northern Railway in Charlotte for about four years. In 1967 he began work in the tax department of Barclays American Credit Corporation in downtown Charlotte, where he worked for 21 years. He took an early retirement offer from them when he was fifty years old. During most of these years he and his wife operated an income tax and bookkeeping business on the side. Bob attended various Baptist churches for many years, and he very much enjoyed hearing and singing the old gospel songs. He and Emma were members at Forestview Baptist church for 25 years before it became West Cabarrus Church. For the past years they attended Harmony United Methodist Church. He and his wife enjoyed traveling during 55 years of marriage. He often said how thankful he was to be able to go pretty much wherever and whenever he desired.
