Boyce Owen “Bo†Jenkins graduated to a higher level and went home to be with the lord on September 7, 2010. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, September 10, 2010 at Concord First Assembly following a 30 min. state, with Dr. Rick Ross and Pastor Forest Jones officiating. Visitation will be at Concord First Assembly from 6:00 -8:00 P.M., Thursday, September 9, 2010. Born on August 22, 1922, he was the son of Everette Harrison Jenkins and Bertha Cline Jenkins. He attended Harrisburg High School and graduated as salutatorian of his class. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and completed graduate work at the University of Virginia School of Consumer Banking. He accepted employment with the FBI in 1940 and worked for the Bureau several years. In wanting to take a more active role in WWII, he volunteered for service in the US Navy and was assigned to Naval Intelligence. He was assigned to an intelligence unit called The Sino American Cooperative Organization operating in China. In 2006, Boyce received a medal from the Republic of China, Taiwan for service in “SACO†Mr. Jenkins began work with Cabarrus Bank and Trust Company in 1950. After a career of 35 years, he retired as Senior Vice President with Northwestern Bank, which had merged with Cabarrus Bank. Boyce served the Harrisburg Presbyterian Church for a number of years, singing in the choir, teaching the Men’s Bible Class, serving as a deacon and elder, and Clerk of the Session. Boyce and his wife, Frances, joined Concord First Assembly in 1976. He was a charter member of the steering committee for 25 years. He was instrumental in acquiring the property where the main campus is now located and served on the First Assembly Christian School Board. Mr. Jenkins was chairman of the bond program responsible for acquiring the funding for the current facility on Highway 601. He also served on the World’s Foreign Missions Advisory Board for the Assemblies of God. Involvement in civic and professional organizations played an important role in Mr. Jenkins life. He was a member of the board of the Concord Chapter of the American Red Cross, member of the Boys and Girls Club, a board member and President of the Kannapolis Rotary Club. He also served as president of the Piedmont Chapter of the National Association for Bank, Audit, Control and Operation; President of the Kannapolis Merchant’s Association and Chairman and Treasurer of Group Nine of The North Carolina Banker’s Association. One of his first loves was serving on the Salvation Army Advisory Board for 25 years. He received a certificate of membership emeritus from the Board. Mr. Jenkins is survived by his wife of 64 years, Frances Alexander Jenkins; children, Dr. Timothy Jenkins and wife Theresa; Anne J. Mauney and husband Jim; Alexandra J. Kepley and husband Donald; grandchildren, Alex and Charles Mauney, Elizabeth and Harrison Kepley, and Patrick and Madison Jenkins. Boyce is also survived by brother, Reese Jenkins and sister Nita Bunn. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Concord First Assembly, 280-75 Concord Pky.
