Boyce Cleveland Tarlton, 94 years of age, of Stanfield, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Stanly Regional Medical Center of Albemarle. Mr. Tarlton was born July 16, 1917 in Union County to the late William Lumas Tarlton and the late Dora Idella Williams Tarlton. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Bernice Morgan Tarlton, in 2007; an infant son; his brother, Oscar Tarlton; and his sisters, Odell Edwards and Alma Smith. He was a loom fixer for Cannon Mills and worked for Cannon for 45 years. He was also a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church of Stanfield. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m., Monday, February 27, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, with a 30 minute state, at Philadelphia Baptist Church of Stanfield officiated by Rev. Dwight Mabry. Entombment will follow at the Stanly Gardens of Memory Mausoleum in Albemarle. At other times, the family will meet at the home of his daughter, Nelva Austin at 4322 Hwy. 200, Stanfield. Survivors include his daughter, Nelva Austin and her husband, Keith, of Stanfield; grandchildren, Charles Austin, Jr. and his wife, Donna, of Locust and Wendy Griffin and husband, Mike, of Albemarle; great-grandchildren, Paula Autrey, Carrie Walker, Seth Whitley, Cameron Griffin, Taylor Autrey, Kelsey and Mason Hamilton; his brothers, Wilson Tarlton of Oakboro, Raeford Tarlton, Charles Tarlton, and Donald Tarlton all of Monroe; and his sisters, Rachel Blackmon of Mint Hill and LaNelle Richardson of Monroe. The family would prefer memorials be made to Hospice of Stanly County, 960 North First Street, Albemarle NC 28001 or Philadelphia Baptist Church, 12495 Philadelphia Church Road, Stanfield, NC 28163.
