Bradley Johnson Benton, 28, of Concord, passed away unexpectedly Friday, April 26, 2019 at home.
Brad was born August 6, 1990 in Concord to Brian Benton and the late Deborah Smith Ferguson. In addition to his mother, Brad was also preceded in death by maternal grandmother, Lynda D. Smith.
Sgt. Brad Benton was a Veteran of the United States Army. He proudly and selflessly enlisted in 2009, having served during Operation Enduring Freedom from 2013 to 2014, as a member of the 211th Military Police Company. He continued his service in the Army National Guard until 2017. Brad was also a former firefighter with Allen Volunteer Fire Department. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed working with Lewis Tree Care. One of his proudest moments was becoming a father to Rylan and Jaxson. Brad will be forever loved and greatly missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include beloved wife of 10 years, Leslie Benton; sons, Rylan and Jaxson Benton; father, Brian Benton; brother, Brandon (Lorie) Benton; maternal grandfather, Jimmie Smith; paternal grandparents, Grady Benton and Libby Murdock; aunt, Teresa (Mike) Dakins; cousin, Meghan Dakins and several other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service with military honors will be on Wednesday at 6:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel of Concord, officiated by Rev. Gary Bragg.
