Brenda Holmes

Brenda Kay Holmes, 76, of Marshville, passed away Sunday, August 29, 2021 at Atrium Health Union in Monroe.

Ms. Holmes was born July 2, 1945 in Stanly County to the late James Mills and the late Sudie Mills. In addition to her husband, Larry Holmes, she was also preceded in death by daughter, Pamela Kay Tatro; half brother, Bobby Burgess.

Brenda will lie in state Sunday September 5th, 2021 from 1:15 PM - 2:00 PM, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 7002 Pleasant Hill Church Rd., Marshville. The funeral service will follow in the church sanctuary at 2:00 PM officiated by Rev. John Miller. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Brenda loved cooking for the community and for her church. She was well known for her chicken and dumplings.

Survivors include daughter, Cindy (Ronnie) Speights of Albemarle, NC; sons, Jimmy (DeAnna) Holmes, Charlie Holmes; granddaughters, Tiffany Tatro, Justine Byrd, Emily Tatro, Kiley Holmes, Paige Diggs; grandsons, Blake Holmes, Grant Holmes, Chase Speights, Kanten Holmes; step-grandchildren, Colton Rorie, Anya Rorie, Ryder Carriker, 9 great-grandchildren; brother Ted Mills (Debbie); half brother, Zeke Burgess (Libby).

Memorials may be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery at 7002 Pleasant Hill Church Rd., Marshville.
