Brenda Huneycutt

Brenda Whitley Huneycutt, 78, of Locust, passed away, Saturday, January 16, 2021, at home with family by her side.

A native of Stanly County, she was a daughter of the late Eugene and Colleen Baucom Whitley and the wife of Joel A. Huneycutt, who passed in 2012. She was also preceded in death by a brother Randy Whitley and in-laws, Roy and Minnie Huneycutt. Brenda was an active member of First Baptist Church of Locust, where she served on numerous committees. Brenda worked in the family business at Locust Lumber as office manager for over 40 years.

Surviving are sons, Eric Huneycutt and wife Sheri, Ashley Huneycutt and wife Jane Ellen of Locust, and Gordon Huneycutt and wife Laura, of Stanfield; six grandchildren, Josh Huneycutt, Andrew Huneycutt, Roxanne Gray (Jamie), Ellen Morton (Daniel), Rebekah and Ross Huneycutt; three great grandchildren, Landon and Meredith Huneycutt and J.D. Gray; sister, Paulette Greene (Dowd); sister-in-laws, Beverly Whitley, Cheryel Bray (Rick); brother-in-law, Leon Huneycutt (Donna); several nieces and nephews; special friends, Jim and Jean Barbee; and her loyal Goldendoodle Samson.

A private family graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at  First Baptist Church Cemetery, Locust. Her son, Rev. Gordon Huneycutt and Dr. Tommy Ross will officiate.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
