Brenda Kay Tucker

Brenda Kay Tucker, 75, of Albemarle, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2023 at Bethany Woods Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Albemarle.

Kay was born March 21, 1948 in North Carolina to the late Earl Thomas Hartsell and the Late Cora Wallena Efird Hartsell. 
She was also preceded in death by brothers, Bobby Earl, Billy Joel, and Kenneth Wayne Hartsell.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm - 2:45 pm, Sunday, July 30, 2023 at Red Cross Baptist Church of Oakboro. The funeral service will follow in the chapel, officiated by Rev. Jesse Herring and Rev. Garry Baker. Burial will follow in the church cemetery at 112 W. Red Cross Rd., Oakboro.

Kay was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, and grandmother.  She enjoyed baking and was known in her community for her cakes which everyone loved.  Oftentimes, she would go out to eat with her husband, Richard, at Jay's Seafood.  Kay loved taking care of children at her home for families, and she also looked after the children during daycare at Red Cross Baptist Church where she was a member.  Kay loved serving the Lord with all her heart and is now enjoying being in the presence of her Lord and Savior.  

Survivors include husband, Richard Tucker; son Scott Tucker; daughters, Carla (Scotty) Tyree and Gina Tucker; grandchildren, Malachi and Isaac Tucker; step-grandchildren, Jacob, Katie, and AJ Tyree; and sister, Janette Kiker.

Donations may be made to the Lewy-Body Dementia Foundation. 

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Bethany Woods Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for their loving and dedicated care that they showed for Kay.
