Brenda Dee Brown Sims, 65, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on October 2, 2023.
Brenda was born January 14, 1958 to Delores (Brauer) and Vernon Brown in Clinton, MO.
At the age of 1.5 years old she met the man she called dad, Cleo Earnest Pitts. She was baptized July 29, 1958 at the home of her Grandma Dora Payton, with Dora Payton and Uncle Elroy Brauer as her sponsors, and confirmed on May 28, 1972 in North Platte, NE. She was a graduate of North Platte High School, North Platte, NE. She attended Mid-Plains Community College and Rowan-Cabarrus Community College.
Brenda was an accountant for Belk Department Store Corporate Office in Charlotte, NC, where she retired in 2017 after 32 years of service. She remained close with several of the people she worked with including: Andrea Wilson, Karen Pardue, Debbie Morris and Gloria Rabon. They called themselves Belkies. Shortly after retirement Brenda was diagnosed with Inflammatory and Triple Negative Breast Cancer that had metastasized. She faced it head on and was released cancer free on January 6, 2023.
She is survived by her mother, Delores Shireman of Cole Camp, MO; sons, Christopher Brown and wife Krista of Midland, NC, William Mac Mills and wife Manuela of Caltra, County Galway, Ireland; daughter, Dora Mills and Rodrigo of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Cole Brown, Helena and Kira Mills, Brendon Mills, Brianna and Emma Mills; brothers, Tim Pitts, Cleo E. Pitts, Steve Pitts of Cole Camp, MO, Mark Pitts (Sonya) of Marshall, MO; sisters, Dianne Sanders of Augusta, GA, Donna Hartman (Mike) of Springfield, MO and Ann Fowler (Jay) of Florence, MO; aunts, Sharon Beeson (Bud) and Maggie Roark (Ray); along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Brenda was preceded in death by her father, Vernon Brown; her dad, Cleo Earnest Pitts; maternal grandparents, Wilbur Brauer, Lee and Dora Payton; paternal grandparents, General Lee and Opal Brown, Clea Ennis and Martha Pitts; aunts and uncles, Elroy and Rose Brauer, Ray Dean and Wilma Brauer.
