Brice "Butch" Garmon, 91, passed away Monday, January 4, 2016 at his home in Concord.
He was born May 13, 1924 in Midland to the late Ralph and Cleone Garmon. Mr. Garmon was also preceded in death by his brother Ben Garmon; his sister and brother in law, Nelda and Pete McManus; as well as his nephew John McManus.
A graveside service with full military honors will be held Thursday, January 7, 2016 at 1:00 pm, at Center United Methodist Church, 1119 Union St. S., Concord, officiated by Rev. Tony Allen.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Frances Garmon; daughter Denise Stowe; son Kevin Garmon and wife Amy; son Roger Garmon; grandsons Cal Garmon and Richard Broome; as well as great grandchildren Dylan and Chandler Broome.
Butch proudly served in the United States Army, and valiantly fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a sports enthusiast who loved the North Carolina Tarheels and the Atlanta Braves. As a young man he played professional baseball in the North Carolina League on the Lexington Indians and the Concord Weavers. He later played for the Gainsville G-Men in the Florida State League. His family meant the world to him, especially playing with the grandkids and great grandkids. He was known by his family as a practical joker, and will surely be missed by his friends and family.
