James Buford Love, 85 years of age, of Stanfield, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2014 at his home with his family by his side. Buford was born October 9, 1928 in Stanly County, NC to the late Johnny Henry Love and the late Stella Helms Love. He was also preceded in death by his sons, James Perry Love and Jeffrey Lynn Love; brothers, Hubert and Melvin Love; and sister, Betty Barbee. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The funeral service will be on Wednesday at 2:00 pm at Love's Chapel United Methodist Church in Stanfield officiated by Rev. Jim Allred and Rev. Bruce League. He will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service. The burial will follow in the church cemetery, with military honors conducted by the Stanly County DAV, Chapter 12. At other times the family will be meeting at the home. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirley Beatty Love of the home; daughters, Judy Braswell and husband Greg of Monroe, and Penny Russell and husband Steve of Stanfield; grandchildren, Carmen Braswell and fiancée Cody Rape, Lucas Braswell, Tiffany Wayne and husband Jeremy, and Cody Stockton; three great-grandchildren, Stella, Abram, and Elam Wayne; brother, Archie Love; and sister, Janie Hackenbury. Buford served his country honorably in the Army during the Korean War. He retired from Charlotte Pipe Foundry, and was a faithful member of Love's Chapel United Methodist Church.
