Callie Janey

Callie Elizabeth Sink Janey, 95 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Sunday, July 13, 2014 at Forrest Oakes Healthcare Center in Albemarle.

Callie was born February 13, 1919 in Virginia to the late Henry Sink and the late Virgie Sink. She was also preceded in death by husband, Guy Janey; son Billy Janey; and five siblings, Alton, Vella, Doris, Olean, and Henry.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM until 1:30 PM, Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Westminster Gardens Mausoleum, 3601 Whitehurst Road, Greensboro, NC. The graveside service at the cemetery will follow at 2:00 PM.

Her body will also lie in state at the Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle from 10 AM until 5 PM, Thursday, July 17, 2014.

She is survived by son, Ronnie Paige Janey and wife, Rita of Mount Gilead; two granddaughters, Robin (Steve) Morris Fortin of Wilmington, NC, Crystal (Jamie) Janey Brownell of San Diego, CA, and a grandson, Paige (Lynn) Janey of Rockwell, NC; and six great-grandchildren.

Callie was a committed Christian who spent her life serving the churches Glenwood Friends Meeting of Greensboro and then First Baptist of Albemarle. She was a retired inspector from Western Electric after 25 years of service. She was a great wife, mother, and grandmother and was a fabulous cook. She was the world's best pound cake maker!
