Carey Stephens

Carey Benton Stephens age 63 of 40014-47 Matt-Neal Road, Norwood passed away Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Stanly Regional Medical Center. He was born August 1, 1947 in Robeson County, NC to the late John Knox and Stella Mae Stephens Stephens. He had been employed by E. J. Snyder’s and was a member of First Baptist Church of Orrum, N.C. He was retired from the US Army and Army National Guard with 21 years of service and also served in the Vietnam War. He is survived by his wife Joyce Barnes Stephens of the home; sons Chris Surles and wife Sheridan of Columbus, Ga., Kevin Stephens and wife Fawn of Hagerstown, Md., and Jason Stephens and wife Toni of Albemarle; brother Dalton Stephens of Fairmont, NC; sister, Linda Fuller of Albemarle and 7 grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday, September 13, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. Funeral service will be Tuesday, September 14, 2010 10:00 am at Hartsell Funeral Home’s Lefler Memorial Chapel, Rev. Ron Honeycutt officiating. Burial will be at VA National Cemetery, Salisbury on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at 12 noon. The family will meet at the home of Jason Stephens, 2220 Fairfield Court, Albemarle, NC.
