Carl Eugene Cochran, 78, of Harrisburg, passed away on Thursday, February 24, 2022, at Presbyterian Hospital Main in Charlotte, surrounded by his family.
Mr. Cochran was born August 9, 1943, to the late Carl William and Lora Harrington Cochran. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Glenda Kay Cochran Dutch.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm, on Monday, February 28, 2022, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Harrisburg. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at 2:00 pm, at Mallard Creek Baptist Church, 3001 Morehead Rd, Charlotte, officiated by Rev. Tommy Bright and Rev. Floyd Perry. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Eugene is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carolyn McAnulty Cochran; daughters, Loretta (Joel) Wike, Teresa (Jeff) Brewer, Selena (David) Lemmond; and 11 grandchildren, Jared and Jessica Wike; Nathan, Jonathan, Samuel, and Ethan Brewer; River, Josey, Savannah, David Jr., and Sierra Lemmond; brothers, Eddy (Elaine) Cochran and C.S. Cochran.
Eugene was known as a very hard worker, loving husband, father, and grandfather. He retired from AmeriSteel Corporation, after 36 years as a crane operator. In his teen years, he worked in the chicken houses at Propst Chicken Farm. Following his younger years, he worked at Cannon Mills. Eugene enjoyed many hobbies, including bee-keeping, farming and gardening. He was an active member of Mallard Creek Baptist Church, where he also served as a deacon. Eugene never met a stranger. We will miss his humorous and kind-hearted spirit.
