Carl Efird

Carl Linus Efird, 80, of Albemarle, NC passed away on March 17, 2011 at Stanly Regional Medical Center in Albemarle. The family will receive friends Saturday, March 19, from 6-8 PM at Hartsell Funeral Home. The service will be held Sunday, March 20 at 4 PM at St. Martin Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Judy Copeland will officiate the services. Military honors will be performed by the Stanly County DAV. Mr. Efird was born in Stanly County on June 10, 1930 to the late Winfred and Zora Efird. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Wayne Efird and Ondrie Efird; and sisters, Dolena Scott and Vergie Mae Cooper. During his life, Mr. Efird worked for Collins & Aikman and Firestone. He retired as a truck driver from A.L. Lowder, Inc. Mr. Efird is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Lusk Efird of the home; daughters, Teresa McPherson and husband Billy of Albemarle, Carleen Clark and husband Don of Oakboro, Robin Clark and husband Marty of Albemarle, Freda Huneycutt and husband William of Albemarle; sons, Jeff Efird and wife Marisa of Albemarle, Rodney Efird and wife Vicki of Norwood; daughter, Pam Vanhoy of Albemarle; brother, Tony Efird of Albemarle; sister, Rozena Tucker of Albemarle; seventeen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to St. Martin Lutheran Church, 16592 St. Martin Road, Albemarle, NC 28001; or to Stanly County DAV, PO Box 112, Albemarle, NC 28002.
