Carl Alexander Petrea, 77, of 510 South Central Avenue, Locust, NC, passed away August 13, 2011, at Carolinas Medical Center – NorthEast in Concord. The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at First Baptist Church of Locust. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 in the sanctuary, with a 30 minute state, officiated by Rev. Dr. Kenny Wallace. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. At other times, the family will meet at his mother’s home. Mr. Petrea was born in Stanly County on October 10, 1933. He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Mae Eudy Petrea; father, David Alexander Petrea; one brother, Larry Petrea; and nephew, David Downer. Carl was an active member of First Baptist Church of Locust where he served faithfully as a deacon and choir member. He was in the U. S. Army from 1956 until 1962 in which time he served his country in the Korean War. He was a devoted husband and a manager for Wade Manufacturing in Wadesboro, NC. Carl is survived by his mother, Della Furr Petrea; sisters, Shirley Petrea Baucom and husband, James, and Sylvia Petrea Downer and husband, Ronnie, all of Stanfield; three nieces, Debbie Love and husband, Alan, of Oakboro, Sherry Honrine and husband, Jeff, of Charlotte, and Stephanie Lowder and husband, Chad, of Albemarle.
