Carlus Petrea

Carlus Brewer Petrea, 71 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at her home in Albemarle.

Carlus was born September 17, 1945 in Mecklenburg County to the late Lloyd George Brewer and the late Mildred Holmes Brewer Edwards. She was also preceded in death by husband, Jerry Petrea; son, Lloyd Benjamin Whitley; and brother, Jackie Ervin Brewer.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM, Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Barbee's Grove Baptist Church, 24819-A Barbee's Grove Rd., Oakboro, NC 28129. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Phillip Smith, will follow at 1:00 PM in the church sanctuary. The burial will be at Euto Baptist Church Cemetery in New Salem, NC.

Survivors include son, Tracy Adam Whitley of Oakboro; daughter, Stacy (David) Whitley Talley of Albemarle; granddaughter, Lauren (Tom) Talley Kuell; grandson, Seth Martin (Sami) Whitley; granddaughter, Emily (Lee) Talley Cross; granddaughter, Samantha Claire Talley; great-granddaughter, Talley Rae Kuell; great-grandson, David Wetzel Cross; great granddaughter, Natalee Belle Cross; sister, Vivian Brewer (James) Long.

Carlus was a Sunday School teacher and a devoted member of Barbee's Grove Baptist Church. She loved music and dancing. She loved her children and grandchildren more than anything. She gives God all the glory for the blessings in her life!
