Carol Sanders

Carol Elizabeth Hancock Sanders, 85, of Albemarle, passed away Monday, July 31, 2017 at Trinity Place in Albemarle.
Carol was born October 18, 1931 in Stanly County to Arch N. Hancock and the late Minnie Lee Hancock. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Eric Sanders; sister, Ruth Lee; and brother, Fred Hancock.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The graveside service to celebrate her life will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Norwood Cemetery, officiated by Chaplain Jean Torrence. Military honors will be conducted by the Stanly County DAV, Chapter #12 and the NC National Guard Honor Guard. At other times, the family will be gathering at her son, Stephen Sander's home.
She is survived by her son, Stephen Sanders and wife Sue of Albemarle; daughter, Teresa Sanders Reid of Fayetteville; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Carol was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. She honorably served her country in the United States Navy. Carol worked at Allison Manufacturing Company for many years, and later retired from the Lutheran Home as a dietary aid.
