Carol was born January 13, 1943 to her late parents Jacob Horace Crawford and Elsie LeCompte Crawford. A vibrant and passionate person, Carol pursued a career in education, graduating from Temple University with a master’s in education in 1973 and worked as a dedicated educator for 35 years.

The family will receive friends and from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm, Sunday, December 10, 2023, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. There will also be a reception during this time.

On June 27, 1963 she married David, her high school sweetheart welcomed her two beautiful daughters and her wonderful son. Family was a central part of Carol’s life, and Carol was the center of her family. Carol’s best friend was Anne Sites Roberts, her sister-in-law. They shared an unbreakable bond that endured for decades. The two often spent hours on the phone on Sundays chatting about their beloved families. Her love also extended to her brother-in-law Richard Sites, a meaningful part of her family.

Leaving behind her job with the Philadelphia Board of Education after the birth of her son, she took great pride tending to her three children. Her love of community led to her founding Green Lane School in Roxborough, PA. Carol’s work at Green Lane School positively impacted the lives of hundreds of preschool aged children and their families. Her work left an indelible mark on her community and was amongst her greatest achievements.

Becoming a grandmother to five grandchildren introduced immense joy to Carol’s life. An active participant in the lives of all her grandchildren, Carol treasured the time she was able to spend with them. She felt her greatest joy when she was able to be with the members of her family.

When people think of Carol many words come to mind such as, ‘Survivor’, ‘Accepting’, ‘Strongwilled', but above all Carol was a friend to all. Her loving nature combined with her compassionate disposition made her an unforgettable light in the lives of those who knew her. Carol will always be remembered for her sincere/no-nonsense approach to life and the way that she always was willing to be there for those who needed her. Her voice will stay with us through our memories of her witty remarks and her beautiful laughter. Though Carol is gone, she will never be forgotten and will live on in the memories and hearts of her friends and families.
