Carolyn Ann Benton Cook, 69, of Concord, was surrounded by her family who loved her when the Lord took her home on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at her home. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord on Sunday, December 2, 2012 from 6 until 8 pm. A Graveside Service will be held at West Concord Cemetery on Monday, December 3, 2012 at 3:30 pm, with Rev. Jesse Watkins officiating. Carolyn was born on June 14, 1943 in Cabarrus County, to the late James Reece and Betty Irene Burris Benton. She was also preceded in death by her husband Benny Mack Cook who passed away in June of 2010, they were married on August 20, 1987. Carolyn retired after 43 years of service in the hosiery mill industry. She is survived by: daughter, Robin Barbee Stancil and husband Jeff: son, Scotty Dale Barbee; granddaughters, Jennifer Stancil Bond and husband Randall and Tracie Stancil Jarrell and husband Steven; step-daughter, Terri Cook Featherstone; step-grandaughter, Jessica Tucker and husband Chad; step-grandson, Elijah Featherstone: sisters, Darlene “Dennie” Tucker and husband Roddy and Debbie Little and husband David; brothers, Bub Benton and wife Linda and Joe Benton and wife Carolyn; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County for their care and support given to Carolyn and her family during her illness. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County 5003 Hospice Lane Kannapolis, NC 28081 or Friendship Baptist Church 180 North Avenue SW Concord, NC 28027.
