Carolyn Eury

Carolyn Joyner Eury, 72, of Concord, passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2013, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis. Mrs. Eury was born June 25, 1941 in Concord, North Carolina to the late Frank and Martha Joyner. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Joel Eury. A memorial service will be officiated by Pastor Jesse Watkins, and will be held at Friendship Southern Baptist Church at 180 West Avenue, SW, Concord, NC on Sunday, October 6, 2013, at 5:00. Carolyn graduated from Harrisburg High School and went on to Appalachian State Teacher's College. She later became a social worker with the Cabarrus County Department of Social Services, rising to the level of Supervisor before retiring after 35 years. She touched and changed the lives of many families throughout the county by her service and dedication. She is survived by her son, Tony Eury and his wife Anne Grady Eury of Concord. Mrs. Eury is also survived by her brothers Tom Joyner and wife Judy, Ted Joyner and wife Dollie, Darrell Joyner and wife Brenda and Lang Joyner and wife Debbie, all of Concord. Mrs. Eury was blessed to be "Mimma" to grandchildren, Margaret and John Eury of Concord. She also will be truly missed by a special friend David Yarborough of Concord and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorials be made to the Tucker Hospice House and Friendship Southern Baptist Church. Hartsell Funeral Home is serving the Eury family.
